Parental Responsibility: Raising Children and Their Mental Well-Being Parenting is a profound responsibility, both legally and emotionally. A child’s upbringing is shaped by the decisions and care provided by their parents, and research shows that a secure attachment is crucial for mental well-being and future stability. Legal Responsibility for Parenting Under Swedish law, parents have extensive responsibilities for their children's upbringing and well-being. The Parental Code states that guardians must provide their children with good upbringing and care, including their fundamental needs such as food, clothing, education, and security. The Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is part of Swedish law, strengthens children’s rights and emphasizes their entitlement to a childhood free from violence, neglect, and abuse. Parents also have a duty of supervision , meaning they are responsible for protecting their child from harmful environments and influences. This includes be...

Our Sensitivity Feeds the Gangs – Time to Talk Damn Clearly About Parental Responsibility!

Our Sensitivity Feeds the Gangs – Time to Talk Damn Clearly About Parental Responsibility! Another youth drawn in. Another damn shooting. While we adults chicken out and avoid talking about why young people end up in the clutches of criminals, the gangs continue to spread. The research from Brå (the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention) and Stockholm University is crystal clear: a lack of parental engagement is one of the biggest risk factors. Hirschi's social bond theory? Check. Weak family bonds = increased risk. Do you understand? But instead of calling a spade a spade, we wimp out and talk about "complex societal problems." Bullshit! The criminals aren't sensitive when they lure our young people into this mess. So are we going to sit here and be afraid of stepping on someone's toes when it comes to children's lives? The kid doesn't know where they should be in the evenings? No one cares about their homework? No damn boundaries at home? Bingo...

Time to act – children’s rights can’t wait!

When Sweden Fails Its Children – We Can’t Stay Silent Sweden has long been seen as a leader in human rights, but the reality for our children tells a different story. Despite the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child being law, the state continues to fail vulnerable children. Violence in SiS homes, lack of protection for refugee children, and a legal system that rarely prioritizes the best interests of the child prove that our most fragile citizens are being abandoned. We cannot stay silent. We must demand accountability , end the abuse , and build a system that truly protects children – not one that turns them into victims of political decisions. Share this, spread the message, and let’s work together to pressure those in power. Every day, Sweden fails its children. They are left in violent homes, placed in institutions where abuse happens, and ignored by the authorities meant to protect them. Enough is enough. Children’s rights are law, but laws without action are just wor...

Green Dreams and Viking Streams: Why Denmark Leads the Environmental Charge

Green Dreams and Viking Streams: Why Denmark Leads the Environmental Charge Denmark. The land of fairytales, design innovation, and surprisingly, a fierce dedication to all things green. While often lauded for its hygge and pastries, this Scandinavian nation has quietly positioned itself as a global frontrunner in environmental sustainability. But what fuels this deep-seated commitment? It's more than just a trend; it's woven into the very fabric of Danish society. One key driver is a strong sense of national identity and responsibility . Danes often view their country as a shared home, a legacy to be protected for future generations. This collective mindset fosters a willingness to embrace sustainable practices, from meticulously sorting waste to supporting ambitious renewable energy projects. It's a "we're all in this together" approach that permeates daily life and policy-making. Furthermore, Denmark has a long history of forward-thinking governance and ...

The Betrayal of Our Children: HVB Homes as a Recruitment Base for Crime

HVB homes and SiS institutions are meant to be a way out of destructive environments, offering young people a chance to break free from crime and start anew. However, a report from the Swedish Police Authority reveals that many of these homes have turned into recruitment bases for organized crime . Some HVB homes are run by criminal networks, with owners and employees directly linked to violent crimes, drug trafficking, and financial fraud. A System That Fuels Criminal Activity The report shows that several HVB homes serve as protected spaces for criminal operations. They are used as storage facilities for weapons and drugs, and the youths placed in them risk being drawn into gang-related activities rather than receiving the care they need. The numbers are shocking: 33% of youths who run away from HVB and SiS homes are later suspected of serious crimes during their absence. One in ten runaways leads to a violent crime , including attempted murder and shootings. Confirmed links e...
